Misplaced Aggression

A bully likes to control the situation. They want to dominate the victim and make them respond in a specific way. A bully will take any opportunity possible to humiliate their intended target.

Today, the bully took the opportunity to make my sister's friend appear to be the aggressor.

In gym class, Colleen was the catcher. One of the kids in the class ran into home plate. While approaching home plate, he purposely tripped. All throughout the day, kids in school asked her why she tripped him and calling HER a bully.

Witness' to what really took place in gym won't stand up for her.

Bullies will take any opportunity to create humiliation. This particular bully took great satisfaction in watching as Colleen grew upset in the lie that was being spread about her and her character.

We try to tell kids that teasing stops if you ignore it. That if they pretend like it doesn't bother them, the bullies will get bored and leave them alone. How can anyone be expected to ignore the constant ridicule that these girls receive?

Has anyone ever been made to look like the aggressor? If so, how did you handle it? I'd like to know what advice readers out there would give Colleen to deal with this situation. I welcome your comments and the support you can give to our young friend.
